Senior Miles Hellums signed a Letter of Intent to attend San Jacinto College Central in Pasadena, Texas after receiving a full scholarship to play baseball. Hellums discussed his decision about the signing.

How do you feel knowing you are committed to San Jacinto?

“It’s a relief. I don’t have to worry about anything else. I don’t have to apply to other colleges or take my ACT or SAT. I get to just focus on my craft to better myself in the future.”

Did you get a scholarship?

“I got a full ride for baseball for the whole time I’m there, which is two years. After that I plan on moving on to a D1 or going straight to the draft.”

What do you plan on majoring in college?

“I plan on majoring in pharmacy. But for the most part I am pretty iffy on the topic.”

What are you most excited for?

“The college experience. Meeting new people and playing baseball at the next level.”

Are you ready to leave your hometown? What will you miss the most?

“Yes. I am extremely excited to leave Corpus Christi, Texas. I’m going to miss my friends, definitely the Guad or S&J’s.”

Was San Jacinto your first choice?

“This is my first offer for a full ride and this is the number one baseball junior college in the nation.”

Do you think the scholarship will cause you to work harder?

“I don’t have to stress about where I am going anymore since I already signed to a school but I’m still going to try hard for my last year of high school.”
